Halloween Pumpkins

On Monday we carved our Pumpkins!
It was the first time
I had ever carved a pumpkin all by myself and man...its a lot of work!
I def did NOT enjoy gutting my pumpkin
and I most certainly complained the entire time.
YUCK!

Of course the first ever pumpkin I did HAD to be Princess Tiana!

I am rather pleased with myself.
Even though I did use a tracer I can not tell you how difficult
it is to transfer a tracer to
a pumpkin without distorting the picture!
Then making sure to carve slow enough that you stay on course
but not so slow that it takes forever!
Also...small intricate parts are difficult!

I did find that in the areas that are smaller (like her hair curl, and the frog
legs) it is MUCH easier to cut away small
chunks of pumpkin before removing so that
the large chunk doesn't break the small piece.

Here are our pumpkins side by side,
Princess Tiana and Scooby Doo!!

Happy Halloween!

The Pink Hair Vixen

I know I said I'd be doing a "How To" blog and I have every intention of doing it.
I'm still trying to find where I put my memory card
reader thing to post all the pictures.
I can give you a taste of it though!

I'm totally in love with it!
The bleaching went really well, save for a few spots but those are probably my fault.
The coloring - took me two tries to get right but that was not the products fault.
I'm so happy with it and all the looks and stares
certainly make me laugh!!
My mom told me, "You always did like to be different."
She's right.
I never liked to be cut from the same mold as everyone else.

Today was rather eventful.
I went to the dentist and had three out of six teeth pulled.
The dentist went back on his word regarding payment so I didn't have enough
to have everything I needed pulled
but he got what he thought was hurting me the most.
Regardless, I am still thankful for him. He pulled
three teeth and gave me three shots worth of numbing medicine for a really
low price.
Something no one else would ever do for me.
I am a little loopy from the medicine so...forgive me for anything that is
spelled wrong or doesn't make sense.

I realized today that I no longer have a relationship with my grandmother.
Its not really something I'm ready to talk about.
But when I am you'll find my words here.
It hurts.
It hurts to think that she sees me the way that she does.
It hurts to think that when I needed her the most she made it about herself.
But its her loss.

I'm feeling pretty out of it, looks like my most recent
round of medicine is kicking in.

My First How Too!

I am so excited!!
Tomorrow night will be tackling bleaching my hair and coloring
it on my own.
While I have spent many years coloring my hair
I have never tried to bleach it on my own, always had it done.
I thought it would be awesome if I documented the
entire process and wrote a "How too".

I can't help but feel like, even with all the mass amounts
of information on the internet
I still feel as if I am going on this adventure totally unprepared.
A lot of the information out there talks about
"I went from a level 4 to a level 8 and this product sucks".
Well...for someone like me, I haven't a clue
what that means!
So! Tomorrow night I will be taking LOTS of pictures
and trying to be as descriptive as possible.

As for what color its going to be in the end...
You'll just have to wait till tomorrow!!!!

A Sudden Realization

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. ... My job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives." -Mitt Romney

Of course this statement upset me originally.
Who is he to assume that everyone within that 47% is that way?
Then I realized I am part of that 47%.
I work full time, and pull overtime every week.
I just moved into a new home (renting sadly and not owned).
I pay the same bills the majority of American's pay every month,
most of them on time.
9 times out of 10 I juggle my bills just to keep our heads
above water.
We depend on $138 every month in government aid to keep 3 weeks worth
of food in the house.
I am not the woman you see at the register with my nails done every week (while
I have them done I go weeks without fills),
buying steak, ribs, or name brand food.
While I do carry a designer hand bag and I have an Iphone...
My Juicy Couture hand bag cost me about 8 months worth of saving
and my IPhone came from craigslist after about 6 months worth of saving.
I do not have health care.
I do not live in a section 8 house.
While I struggle nearly every week just to keep gas in my car,
juggle all our bills,
and just try to stay a float
I do not feel that this country owes me anything.
I do not believe that I am a victim.
I do not believe the government has a responsibility to care for me.
I do not believe that I am entitled to anything.

I realized today that two years ago I was unemployed for 10 months.
It was my own fault; I wasn't laid off or fired.
I quit my job for a really stupid reason.
My life sort of fell apart because I believed the words of boy who promised
to care for me.
In that 10 months the only government aid I received
was $200 in food stamps.
While I depended on the people around me a lot
I managed to not only feed myself
but keep a roof over my head, keep my car insurance, cell phone, and food in my belly.
(Thank you to those who helped me.)
I never realized that for those 10 months I could have received unemployment.
When I think back, I think of how I really could've used that money.
I'm glad I didn't take it.
I also think back to how when I did get my job, I never reapplied for my food stamps.
My thought was, at that time, I didn't need that $200 any longer
and some where a family really need that money.

Last night, for the first time, I went to a food pantry.
I wasn't there to volunteer.
I wasn't there to donate.
I was there because we needed food.
Just enough to float us for a couple days until we can afford to go to
the grocery store.
Yesterday my boss gave me a $10 gas card
and a $20 bill.
I work extremely hard at my job to make enough money
every week to keep us from drowning.
What I do feel is owed to me is a President in office
who cares about the fact that I am probably considered
middle class.
What is owed to me is that I bring home a $500 pay check every
week and I shouldn't still be on the verge of drowning.
I shouldn't be making the kind of money I do and have to visit a food pantry.
I deserve...America deserves a President who cares about this.
Who cares about the people who have less than I do.
Mitt Romney...Is not that person.

A Little Bit of Everything

Okay so I know that I've slacked off but
I'm. Exhausted.
Working 9 hour days on about 5 hours
of sleep
is killing me.
The pay check is always nice though! It is probably
the only reason I actually get out of bed and keep coming back!

This weekend won't really be any better.  Were moving this weekend
and we are in no way, shape, or form ready for it.
Tonight will consist of packing the entire house and possibly
moving some of the stuff.
As happy as I am to move out of a house that has the worst
case of black mold I've ever seen
I am certainly going to miss my relaxing Saturday, sleeping in till 12!!

I am happy to report that Cora Mae has gotten almost all
her fur back!  She is finally starting to not
look like
"Frankenpuppy" as I nick named her.
She's already grown a lot and is reaching that stage where
it seems she just stays in trouble. Ha!
She has finally caught on to "sit" but watching her
bounce on her front paws and "dance" for her food
is certainly entertaining!

Pride is this weekend.
It was supposed to be my first pride.
But moving will take precedence.
IF we can get everything moved and situated before
4pm Saturday we can catch the parade.
I'm sure there will be pictures to follow!

Stay tuned for a puppy training how to next!
